Just press ⌥Space
Apps, settings, files, commands and the odd calculation, all from one search field.
Any hotkey you like
Including ⌘Space or a double-tapped modifier, with a warning if it clashes with something else.
Fuzzy search
Across apps, settings, files and commands. It learns what you use and puts it first.
Actions on everything
Press ⌘K on any result for the action panel.
Everything you copied, still here
Text, images and files. It skips password managers and never leaves your Mac. Open it with ⌘⇧V.
Calculator and units
Sums and unit conversions, offline. Type 10 km to mi, get 6.21 mi.
Snippets and quicklinks
Snippets with placeholders that expand as you type, and quicklinks to the pages you open daily.
Snap to it
Halves, quarters, thirds, two-thirds, maximise, centre and next display, each with its own hotkey. Left half is ⌃⌥←.
Script commands
Raycast-compatible script commands run as they are.
The little things
Emoji picker, system commands, and a web search when nothing local matches.
Your cloud files
Search and upload to Google Drive, and search iCloud Drive, without opening a browser.
Mac Cleaner
Free up space. Know why.
A free alternative to CleanMyMac. Swoop finds the files your Mac doesn't need (caches, logs, old downloads, duplicates and the leftovers apps scatter around) and shows you exactly where your storage is going, so you can safely reclaim space and keep your Mac running smoothly. Every item comes with a reason, and nothing is removed until you've reviewed it.
One scan, then you review
Nothing is removed until you have looked at the list.
See where the space went
A treemap of your disk, so the biggest folders are the biggest boxes.
System junk
Caches, logs, Xcode data and browser caches.
Uninstaller
Removes an app and finds the leftovers it scattered around.
Login items and security
See what starts with your Mac, and check for adware that keeps itself running.
Menu-bar monitor
CPU and memory at a glance, with Free Up RAM one click away.
App updates
One list for Sparkle, App Store and Homebrew updates.
And the rest of the toolkit
- Large and old files
- Duplicates
- Maintenance tasks
- Battery health
- Scheduled clean-ups
Changed your mind? Undo.
Items go to the Trash by default, and every removal is logged with its reason, so you can restore it. Swoop never touches /System or other protected paths.
Swoop Shield · Ad blocker
Block ads and trackers on your whole Mac.
A free, system-wide ad blocker. Shield stops ads, trackers, telemetry and malware sites in every browser and app (Safari, Chrome, Arc, Brave, Edge, Firefox, even apps outside the browser) without slowing you down.
System-wide
Works through a macOS network extension, with a local resolver as fallback.
Uncloaks trackers
Catches trackers posing as a site's own subdomain (CNAME uncloaking).
No sneaking round
Stops apps bypassing it with their own encrypted DNS.
In-page ads too
Safari content blockers, plus an extension for Chrome, Arc, Brave, Edge and Firefox.
You're in charge
Pause for 5 minutes, allow a site, write custom rules, and see a blocked-today counter in the menu bar.
Stays on your Mac
All filtering happens locally. No telemetry.
DNS blocking can't remove ads served from the same domain as the video or page (like YouTube's). The browser extensions handle those on a best-effort basis.
Filter lists from EasyList, AdGuard, HaGeZi, OISD, Peter Lowe and URLhaus, downloaded from their maintainers.

Privacy
No catch. Really.
Download it, open it, use it. Nothing to sign up for.
Every feature is free, now and later.
Swoop doesn't phone home. Your data stays on your Mac.
Not on the App Store, on purpose. The sandbox would stop a launcher and cleaner from doing their job, so Swoop is distributed as a DMG.
FAQ
Good questions.
Is it really free?
Yes. Swoop is MIT-licensed, and there is no paid tier.
Is Swoop's cleaner like CleanMyMac?
Yes. It does the same job of freeing up disk space and removing files your Mac doesn't need (junk, caches, app leftovers, large and old files, duplicates) plus an uninstaller, login items and malware checks. The difference: it's completely free, open source, and every removal can be undone.
Is Shield an ad blocker?
Yes. Shield blocks ads, trackers and malware sites system-wide, for every browser and app on your Mac, not just one browser.
Which Macs does it run on?
macOS 13 Ventura or later, on Apple silicon and Intel.
Why isn't it on the Mac App Store?
The App Store sandbox would stop a launcher and cleaner from doing their job. Swoop is distributed as a DMG from GitHub instead.
What permissions does it need?
Accessibility, for window management, paste and snippets.
Full Disk Access, optionally, for the cleaner.
Shield's network extension, which you approve in System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions.
Will the cleaner delete something important?
No. You review everything first, items go to the Trash by default, every removal is logged so you can restore it, and protected system paths such as /System are never touched.
Does Shield block YouTube ads?
DNS blocking can't remove ads served from the same domain as the video or page, as YouTube's are. The browser extensions handle those on a best-effort basis.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. There are no accounts and no telemetry, and everything stays on your Mac.
How do I open it the first time?
If macOS says it can't verify the developer, right-click Swoop in Applications and choose Open.
